Hey! My name is Chantelle and I'm the artist behind all the pieces you see available at Granddaughter's Stained Glass.
I just wanted to introduce myself and tell you how I got started in stained glass. My grandfather was a dentist throughout his life, retiring many years ago now, and decided to learn how to do stained glass as a hobby to keep himself busy. A few years ago my grandfather started to lose his memory; specifically his short term memory. All his long-held childhood memories were safe but the things he learned to do, or places he was going, in the 20 year time span from his age were disappearing. This included his abilities and knowledge surrounding stained glass. He had a large collection of tools and materials around his home, offering to teach me and give me everything before he wasn't able to remember how. No one else in the family had much of an interest to learn, and I really had no interest either, but I did it for him. I brought all the stuff home afterwards and it sat in my basement for almost an entire year before I even touched it.
And that was the end of that. I immediately fell in love and have worked hard to hone my skills and abilities within this art medium. My grandfather can no longer answer any of my questions as he doesn't remember but that's ok. The glass community is a tight knit and helpful one, and I even shop at the same store that he used to get his supplies from. Anyways, enough of the rambling or else I'll go on forever, I just wanted to say thank you for being here, taking the time to look at my artwork and reading my story.
